On friday, the day of gathering, yom de guma, there is a sprawling market in Cairo and the largest prayer

Looking up at the entry to the old Hassan mosque https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosque-Madrasa_of_Sultan_Hasan 
The mosque has no roof as building stopped when Hassan was assassinated in 1361 and is thus open to the sky. (this is my interpretation of why there is an open courtyard)
